Scott has been with Johnson Pope for his entire legal career, beginning in 1984. In 2024, Scott became certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Circuit Civil Mediator. After 40 years of litigating business and commercial disputes and arbitrating and litigating securities disputes, Scott is transitioning his practice to full time mediation. His website for his mediation practice with Johnson Pope is ScottIlgenfritzMediation.com.

In his commercial and business litigation practice, Scott represented individuals and entities in a wide range of matters, including contract litigation, fraud and breach of fiduciary duty claims, business tort claims, limited liability company and corporate litigation, joint venture disputes, shareholder disputes, legal and accounting malpractice claims, securities arbitration and litigation, real estate litigation, construction litigation, and a variety of other business litigation matters.

In 1992, Scott began representing investors in securities arbitration and litigation matters.
