James Eising has joined Johnson Pope’s Bankruptcy team as a full-time associate attorney, having recently been admitted to the Florida Bar after passing the July 2024 exam.

Prior to joining Johnson Pope, James attended Stetson University College of Law from 2021-2024, with an academic focus on bankruptcy, advocacy, and pre-trial practice. He was a bankruptcy extern for Chief Judge Delano and Judge Colton at the Middle District of Florida Bankruptcy Court, a bankruptcy law clerk for a private law firm, and a member of the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association. James was also a judicial intern for Judge Christine Bandin in the 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida and a legal intern for the 13th Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office.

Prior to law school, James retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. Army, where he spent 15 years with 5th Special Forces Group as a Green Beret, serving in different capacities over the years: Special Forces medic, Assistant Detachment Commander, Company Operations Warrant Officer, and Special Operations Planner. He has multiple combat deployments to various countries throughout the Middle East and Southwest Asia, including Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria, resulting in two Bronze Stars for service, among others.
